Thupa Fela FC takes the title

Tsakani – Thupa Fela Football Club (FC) were crowned champions of the 2020 Thumbs Up Six Aside Soccer Tournament.
They defeated Magic 10 1-0 at Green Point ground in Extension 13, Ward 112.
The mini soccer tournament took place on December 12 and 13.
Thupa Fela won a trophy, medals and a cash prize.
They will be defending the trophy in 2021.

According co-organiser Steven “Makarina” Mokoena, the tournament ignited an interest from all corners of the community, which has already showed demand for the coming year.
“This was our first time hosting such a tournament and being hosted under a new normal.
“We are proud of ourselves for we have pulled it off and we hope and trust that we will improve going forward.
“We intend to host these games annually as we have seen the social impact it has in our communities,” said Makarina.
He added that such programmes assist in addressing various social ills that communities face.

“Children and women mostly remain vulnerable and easily targeted during this time of the year.
“Various things, including their socio-economic status, could be the source of this.
“We wish to extend our gratitude to all the teams and our collaborators, local media (eKFM 103.6, African Reporter, Kaufela Magazine) and a special thank you to Tsakani Spar for the donation of 500 sanitary towels.
“These sanitary towels will be distributed to deserving learners from local schools and churches,” he added.
