“The reason for the tournament is that girls and women are being murdered, and we figured why not utilise the sports grounds as their safe place, a place where they can be heard, seen, feel safe and be appreciated while doing something they love,” he explained.
The foundation prides itself on the development and promotion of female soccer.
“At the moment, our biggest challenge is we don’t have a gym facility or training ground.

Sweet victory for the players of PCF Ladies FC who defeated Mnisi United FC in the final game.

“There are people who trespass at the facility we use, while others drink there.
“They sometimes make nasty comments when they see the players training, which results in some players not feeling safe and others dropping out of the team,” he added.
In addition to their win on Saturday, the team also won the 16 Days Awareness Women’s Tournament last month in Katlehong.
PCF Ladies FC captain Promise Lekau (21) said losing was not an option.

“I trust my team simply because we work hard and our defence is strong.
“We came here with a winning mindset because this isn’t just about soccer, but the pandemic of gender-based violence in our country,” she explained.

The team is looking for sponsors.
