Young runners receive donations

“We are concerned about their strength because they have been on Covid-19 recess until recently."

Kwa-Thema – Bayoyo Athletic Academy received a donation of running shoes for eight young runners on Friday.
Academy founder Charles Vilakazi is grateful for the donation.
“We decided to seek help from external people after seeing that some of our runners didn’t have running shoes, especially for competing.

“We appreciate that there are people who responded positively to our call.
“To us every donation from residents and their support is forever appreciated,” he said.
Vilakazi explained that four runners will be participating in a track event at Boksburg Stadium on Saturday morning.
“We are concerned about their strength because they have been on Covid-19 recess until recently.
“We have been pushing them hard and hoping they will be able to bring some gold medals home,” he said.

The club has pleaded with local business people to come forward to make donations.
“We have a challenge of funds because many of our runners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and can’t afford to pay to travel to the races,” said Vilakazi.
