Thumbs Up is inviting soccer teams to participate in a mini soccer tournament dubbed as six-a-side, in Extension Eight, Tsakani.
The tournament is set for December 12 and 13.
According to one of the tournament’s organisers, Steven “Makarina” Mokoena, such programmes assist in addressing various social ills facing communities during the festive season.

“As we approach the festive season, most townships embark on various activities including sporting events to keep themselves entertained or busy.
“It is for this reason Thumbs Up has organised a six-a-side tournament to be held as part of many festive season festivities.
“Youth, children and women remain vulnerable and victims during this time of the year.
“Various things including their socio-economic conditions status could motivate this.
“The year 2020 has been the most difficult year.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has left most of our families, communities and some individuals devastated with no concrete solution because of this invisible enemy,” he explained.

Mokoena said, as a result, they aim to collaborate with various organisations including businesses and community formations to raise more awareness about the pandemic.
“This tournament will be the first of its kind, and will be held under a new normal,” he added.
Registration forms are available and the registration fee is R100 per team of 10 players, excluding three team officials.
