Mbukwana flies local flag high

Kwa-Thema – Representing Kwatsaduza at the Telkom National Netball League is Mpumalanga Sunbirds player Palesa ‘Busta’ Mbukwana. The Kwa-Thema resident is employed by the City of Ekurhuleni. She was presented with the Twizza Moment Player of the Match Award at the tournament, which is currently taking place in a bio-bubble at the Mangaung Indoors Sports Complex in Bloemfontein until October 27.

“I started playing netball at a very young age, but only started taking the sport seriously when I was in Grade Nine in 2004. I was then selected to represent Eastern Gauteng, now known as Ekurhuleni, during the national netball championships. “I then went to play national school netball in the u-17 category,” she stated. In 2011 Mbukwana joined Gauteng Black Diamond in the national league. “The league didn’t continue the next year due to unforeseen circumstances. I had to play at club level for one of our local teams in KwaThema afterwards. “In 2014 I went for trials for the Sunbirds to play in the Brutal Fruit Netball League, now known as Telkom National Netball League,” she said. “I am thankful to God for the talent he has blessed me with. “My aim is to make myself proud, my son and family, as well as the Ekurhuleni community and everyone who has been supporting me,” she said. ANC chief whip Jongizizwe Dlabathi congratulated Mbukwana for flying the Ekurhuleni flag high at the Telkom National Netball League.
