Chance to compete nationally put on hold

“We have been working hard for this stage of the competition, but now that they have been cancelled we have to go back to the drawing board and plan for others,” he adds.

KwaThema – The global scourge of Covid- 19 is affecting sports competitions, both nationally and internationally.

One of those affected is the National Championships for the physically disabled, which was scheduled to be held in PE this weekend.

Local athletes from KwaThema Disabled Athletics Dimakatso Letageng, Neo Ndlovu and Lungiselelo Ndlovu were some of the athletes who qualified to participate in the provincial championships last weekend at the University of Pretoria.

Team coach Aubrey Mathibela says the team worked hard to prepare for the national games.

“We saw Dimakatso finishing in position two in short-put and top three in discus, while Neo in position two in the 100- metre race.

“Lungiselelo competed in the 1 500-metre race and finished third,” he explains.
