“We have invited ladies to join us, but some feel discouraged when they realise it is only men in the group.

“Therefore, we need as many women as possible to come play golf with us and learn about the sport,” says Nkosi.

Job Skosana, a memmber of the group, explains that playing golf helps him to keep fit.

“I love playing golf, it keeps me energised; there are plenty of health benefits as well.

“The more I play the better I become, and it is much better than sitting at home doing nothing,” says Skosana.

They start from as early as 7.30am and leave the venue around 3pm.

The club treasurer, Amos Mononyana, says: “We want to break the myths and stereotypes which surrounds golf, people still believe that playing golf is expensive and that golf is for certain groups.

“We have started introducing golf in the townships and informing people about it.

“But it is always better when people come to us and experience the sport for themselves,” says Mononyana.
