SOB u-17 tough draw against Luso Africa

With a strong Luso defence, Springs kept on fighting and were able to score the final goal in the 90th minute with Michael Neveling scoring.

The Springs Old Boys (SOB) u-17 team played a tough game against Luso Africa on Sunday afternoon at the Springs Old Boys sports grounds in Pollak Park.

The home team found it hard and drew 2-2 against the visitors.

Vice-captain Bongikosi Nswenya helped lead the team to a 2-2 draw against Luso Africa.

This was an impressive performance by the home team as Luso Africa are currently second on the Division 1 log and are considered one of the strongest teams in the league.

Tshephang Maila scored the first goal for Springs in the first half and Luso Africa were quick to equalise and gained the lead shortly with two goals.

With a strong Luso defence, Springs kept on fighting and were able to score the final goal in the 90th minute with Michael Neveling scoring.

Speaking after the game, coach Freddie Matfield said the team will work on game planning and structure and build confidence to overcome any obstacle.

“I’m extremely proud of my team.

“They have proven that they are a good team,” says Matfield.

The u-17s will next play Corintians away on September 1 and will face Bedfordview at home on September 8.

The SOB u-15 played against Pristine FC and won 3-1.

Goals were scored by Lebogang Moleka, Letago Mokoena and Kamogelo Mokoena.
