Teams are invited to participate in Mbosh Games

“In the finals, we will see Jealous Down defending their 2018 championship title at KwaThema Stadium.”

KwaThema – The third annual Community Challenge Mbosh Games for u-17 players promise to be better than those of previous years.

The challenge will see all teams affiliated to the Springs Local Football Association participating.

Event organiser Baby Nkosi says they are calling on the players and teams to bring their A game to the pitch.

“We want to see the players displaying their hunger to win and show that they are ready to compete in national games.

“Vouchers worth R1 000, which will be put towards the players’ education, will be awarded to the best goal scorer, defender, mid-fielder and striker of the tournament.

“The winning team will win the floating trophy.”

The chairperson of the LFA, Joseph Makuwa, says the tournament is aimed at fighting social ills, such as substance abuse and crime, and grooming players to compete in national challenges.

“These players are at a fragile age where they are easily swayed and influenced to participate in activities like crime and drugs.

“We are trying to keep them in school and active in sports so as to keep them busy and to stop them from participating in these activities.

“The tournament is hosted by Springs Local Football Association and a local business family (Moabelo family).

“In the finals, we will see Jealous Down defending their 2018 championship title at KwaThema Stadium,” he says.

Jealous Down have won the floating trophy for two consecutive years and if they win again this year, the trophy will become permanently theirs.

The dates for the Mbosh Games will be announced soon.
