Bayoyo athletes show improvement at Johnson Crane Marathon

They ran in the 5km fun run with Mpendulo Mdluli placed third and Samkelo Nkosi fifth place.

KwaThema – The Bayoyo Athletics Academy runners from Mzumbe took part in the Johnson Crane Marathon in Benoni on January 27.

They ran in the 5km fun run with Mpendulo Mdluli placed third and Samkelo Nkosi fifth place.

Their coach, Charles Bayoyo Vilakazi, says the fun run has shown him how his athletics have improved.

“They have really improved because I could tell they have a better technique when passing runners ahead of them,” he says.

Vilakazi says that the run was part of their training for a run in Krugersdorp on 2 February.

“We are hoping they will do well because should they be placed in the top three, they will go on to the next round in Stellenbosch on a date that still has to be announced should they qualify,” He concludes.
