Soccer academy hosting trials for Kwatsaduza footballers.

The academy will cover the costs of lodging and education for the players.

Nigel – The Kwaduza Football Academy is holding trials at Nigel High School to open young footballers to the word of premier football.

Academy coach Whitey Tshowa says the institution aims to replicate the model of the South African Football Association /Transnet Football School of Excellence.

“The players will live at the school for five years where they can focus on both their schooling and their football, where they will cover a total of 5 000 hours of training and stand a chance to be scouted by top Premier Soccer League teams,” says Tshowa.

Although they are waiting for the approval of their funding applications, the academy will start with its work.

“While awaiting funding, the players in the academy will reside at their current homes and travel to the school.” the coach explains.

All the students in the academy will be students of Nigel High School with spaces already reserved for when the players have been accepted.

“We have come to an arrangement with the school and they have set aside spaces in Grade Eight and Nine as we are looking for players in those grades who were born in 2005 and 2006,” Tshowa continues.

The academy will only consider female players who are already students at Nigel High School. Other females will be considered from 2020 when the academy has been established.

The trials will be held at Nigel High School on January 26 and registration begins at 7am.

Players are asked to please bring their own kits and soccer boots.
