Innocent Mayoyo proud of his little under-17 boys

“The team’s biggest plan is to see the players being scouted to play in the national teams, even playing abroad.”

KwaThema – Ace Auto Ayoba u-17 have been crowned champions in the Ekurhuleni Regional League u-17 at Reiger Park over the weekend.

The team won the league last year in the u-15 top-eight Regional League.

Team founder Innocent Mayoyo says he is proud of the boys for continuing to excel on the pitch.

“I was concerned about the team’s making it into the finals because they were the only team that was going to play two games on the same day.

“They were behind and for them to make it into the finals, they had to play that game.

“I thought they were going to be tired in the finals, but they fought to the end against the strongest team in the final, Real Vultures, from Vosloorus.

“They won, with one point ahead of the Real Vultures,” he says.

Mayoyo says the team has been consistent throughout the league.

“They had two draws, one loss throughout the league, which is a good sign that they were determined to be the winners.

“Because we take the development of players seriously, we have started preparing them for the u-19 league for the upcoming season.

“We are hoping they will win the season, and if it happens, they will be promoted to play in the SAB regional league.

“The team’s biggest plan is to see the players scouted to play for the national teams, an even playing abroad,” he says.
