Ethandweni Pharmacy donates gear to Langaville Athletics Club

Management at a local pharmacy hopes that the donation of this gear will encourage the youth to stay on track.

KwaThema – Ethandweni Pharmacy handed over athletic gear to the Langaville Athletics Club to encourage them to continue pursuing athletics as a sport.

Jabulani Zuma, the manager of the pharmacy, says that this is part of their initiative of giving back to the community.

“Without sports, children resort to crime.”

The pharmacy agreed to help them after Lithabo Dichaba, the treasure of the club, kept on approaching them several times for donations for running supplements and licences for races.

Saki Kgaphola, the chairperson of the club, says they identify leaners that are talented in athletics from different schools in KwaThema, and then they speak to their parents for permission. The leaners are then entered in different athletics competitions.

Kgaphola says the leaners have so far participated in different cross-country and track and field races.

Zuma encourages other businesses to support local teams and to give back to the community.

“The true worth of a man is not measured by what he does for himself but by what he does for someone else,” said Zuma.
