Bosso ke Mang tournament gives back to schools

“We are hoping the initiative will help revive sporting codes in schools.”

KwaThema – Nineteen primary and secondary schools participated in the Bosso ke Mang school tournament at KwaThema Stadium on Saturday.

The tournament kickstarted on May 29 seeing netball and soccer teams in u-13 and u-17 teams participating in the group knock-out stages until they narrowed it down to the finals.

The tournament was held to help raise funds for schools to be able to afford sporting equipment through ticket sales.

Event organiser Innocent Mayoyo says the schools were encouraged to sell tickets of which they will receive 50 per cent of the sales.

“The school with leading ticket sales is Ntokozweni Primary School.

“We are encouraging the school to use the funds appropriately and we will also donate a prize to the school,” he says.

Mayoyo says in the netball games Masimini Primary School locked horns with Khangezile Primary School in the u-13 game.

“Masimini Primary School walked away as the winners of the game and received gold medals for Coach and Player of the Tournament.

“In the girls u-13 soccer game, Zithembeni Primary School walked away as the champions after playing to a 4-1 score against Job Maseko Primary School.

“Tlakula Secondary School won 3-0 against Phulong Secondary School in the girls u-17 soccer.

“In the boys u-17 soccer, Keneth Masikela Secondary School won 5-4 through penalties against Zimisele Secondary School.

“The boys of Job Maseko Primary School won 5-0 against Umsobomvu Primary School,” he says.

Mayoyo says they appreciate the support they received from the participating schools.

“We are hoping the initiative will help revive sporting codes in schools.

“We have also scouted young players who are not playing in any teams within the LFA, this will help groom their talent,” he says.
