New team to guide sport in KwaThema

KwaThema – The elections were conducted by the Ekurhuleni Sports Confederation.

Newly elected president Innocent Mayoyo says he is happy that the elections were fair and all representatives from different sporting codes were present.

“The previous elections had to be cancelled because the numbers of participants were not a true representation of all sporting codes.

“Girly Nguni was elected as the first president and Vusi Shabangu as the second president.

“The additional members include Jabulane Zulu, Bafana Manake, Dalixolo Sonyo, Michael Cindi, and Lindi Mahlangu,” he says.

Mayoyo says the main objective is to ensure that all sporting codes are active by the end of their term.

“We gave all sporting codes until April to sit in a meeting and identify their needs, which we will try to address and form federations.

“Some of the challenges that we have identified so far which are hampering the development of sport in the area include the shortage of facilities.

“Football seems to be the only sport that is receiving more attention and support.

“We would like to see all sporting codes excelling and representing the community in international games like they used to in past years.

“We are hoping that the new committee will be driven with transparency, passion and good sports ethics,” he says.
