Mbosh Community Challenge underway

The Springs Local Football Association together with the Moabelo family and local legends will be hosting the second annual Mbosh Community Challenge tournament.

KwaThema – The u-17 games have started on March 17 and will continue until April 28 in KwaThema.

Organiser Mkhonza Mkhonzana says the annual tournament is aimed at fighting social challenges surrounding young people.

“We are targeting the teenage group to help groom them to become better players and responsible citizens.

“We believe through sport we will be able to keep this group from using drugs and getting involved in criminal activities.”

Mkhonza says each player will win a voucher worth R1 000.

“The vouchers will go towards the players’ educational needs, which would include textbooks, stationery and even school uniforms.

“The legends will pick-out the best midfielder, goalkeeper and striker of the tournament.

“We want to keep the young players in school while working on developing them to become better sportsmen,” he says.

Shadrack Sibanyoni says as local business people they decided to join the partnership to make the tournament possible and a success.

“We believe if we all join hands we will be able to fight crime and substance abuse.

“This group of young players are fragile and need our support to stay on the right path to become responsible citizens.

“We are encouraging the residents to participate in the tournament by attending.

“It is not only the responsibility of the coaches but all stakeholders of the community,” he says.
