Neo represents Ekurhuleni at ASA Opens

KwaThema Disabled Sports Club’s Neo Ndlovu will represent the metro in the ASA Opens next week.

KwaThema – Neo Ndlovu has been selected to take part in the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Opens at Tuks this week.

The usually confident 21-year-old KwaThema Disabled Sports Club member says he is nervous, for the first time in a while.

“This is my chance to reach a qualifying time for the Commonwealth Games later this year.

“There is a lot riding on it.”

Neo’s best time in the 100m sprint is 24 seconds, and he wants to finish in 23 seconds.

He will also take part in the 200m and 400m runs.

“I always aim to do my best, and this is no different.

“I am going to put my best foot forward,” he says.

Coach Aubrey Mathibela still urges parents to allow their children to participate in sport in spite of any physical disability.

“I want them to see, through these athletes, that it is possible.”

The ASA Opens will take place on March 15 in Pretoria.
