Super Strikaz emerge victorious

Martial Eagles Academy, lost 2-0 to the Daveyton Super Strikaz in an exhibition match on 13 January.

The young u-11 side was outmatched by the physicality of the Daveyton Super Strikaz in the sweltering afternoon sun.

The encounter was hard and often bruising for the Springs-based Martial Eagles Academy.

According to Coach Molefe of the Martial Eagles Academy, the game was a valuable experience for his young side.

“We might have lost, but we didn’t lose.

“We won because we played exactly the way we had practised in training.

“The season is just starting so we can’t lose hope.”

Although it was just an exhibition match, which they easily won, the Daveyton Super Strikaz are not resting on their laurels.

Coach Shakes of the Daveyton Super Strikaz says this was an opportunity for the team to assess where they are now.

“From this game, I can tell you that we need to work on our confidence when in possession of the ball, our teamwork and we need to improve our defence when we are under attack because right now, we crack under pressure.

“We also need to work on our movement of the ball and basically play positional football,” says Coach Shakes.

The season starts in February for both teams and they are looking for help with registration for the league, transport and uniforms.

Coaches Molefe and Shakes both agree soccer is a great way of keeping these youngsters off the street while empowering them with a skill they could potentially turn into a career.
