Sibusiso to participate in international tournament

“It was an honour that I was selected but having to actually participate and represent my country will be a greater honour.”

Daveyton – Triathlete Sibusiso Makwakwa (33) needs your donation and sponsorship to participate in the Ultramal Australia Tournament.

The international tournament will be hosted in Australia in May and the athlete needs R50 000 to participate.

During the tournament Sibusiso will have to participate in swimming, cycling and a marathon.

Sibusiso says the tournament will be taking place from May 12- 14.

“I need R20 000 to pay for a slot and the rest of the money will be for accommodation and travelling costs.

“I need the R20 000 by October 31 to book the slot and don’t have such an amount.

“I have sent different requests to different department and business people but I have not received any feedback,” he says.

Sibusiso was selected during his participation in the ironman competition last year.

“I competed in the 3.8 km swimming, 42 km run and 180 km cycling race. My finishing time in the tournament helped me to qualify for the Ultramal Australia Tournament.

“I had to put in a lot of hard work and training to prepare to qualify and I am proud because I am the only athlete in the country who was selected for this tournament,” he says.

Sibusiso is urging residents of Ekurhuleni to help him raise the needed funds to represent the country.

“It was an honour that I was selected but having to actually participate and represent my country will be an even greater honour.

“Every cent donated will make a difference and will be appreciated,” he says.
