The world is ready for Tshepang!

Tshepang Joubert (27) has been invited to participate in the International Wheelchair Amputee Sports Federation World Athletics Championship in November, and he needs the community's support to get there.

Duduza – Tshepang Joubert is on his way to Portugal for the IWASF (International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation) World Athletics Championship in November.

Twenty-seven-year-old Tshepang says this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

“I have been working hard as a build up to this very moment.”

After receiving gold medals in just about every competition he participates in, he believes he is ready to go international.

“I was in PE earlier this year where I aced the long jump, 100m and 200m sprints.

“I am confident that this level will be a new challenge in my career.”

Isability Sports Club Manager, Fred Frustenburg, says that Tshepang’s excellent performance during 2017 has made him a prospect for further development and training.

“This could result in bigger international events for this young athlete.”

The estimated budget per athlete for the championship is R30 000.

This amount includes travelling fees, entry fees and accommodation.

“The biggest challenge I face now is raising the money alone.”

Tshepang believes that his achievements will help other disabled youths to strive for bigger dreams, and will put Kwatsaduza on the map.

“My victories will always serve as inspiration for others. I want someone to look at me and think: if this guy can do this, so can I.”
