KwaThema – Dream Team aims to encourage excellence among the youth through participation in sport especially netball and soccer.

The clubs founder and coach, Vusi Radinne (30) encourages children in Overline to join the club, even if they have never prarticipated in sport before.

“I am passionate about children and sport so I will put in as much time and effort to make sure that the team becomes a success.

Vusi has had to reshuffle the club’s executive committee after they hit a rough patch this year.

“There was some dishonesty among us and I knew I had to allow certain people to walk away.”

The new committee consists of Vusi, who remains founder and coach, Mpho Madonsela the Public relations Officer, Thulani Manzini the Treasurer, Rachel Make the Secretary and Lebo Mashatola who is the co-ordinator.

At the club’s launch in May Thokozani Mhlanga, the master of ceremonies, said he is very grateful that something so powerful and effective has come out of Overline.

“Our section has always been undermined in KwaThema.

“We are just known for dropping out of school and being drunks.

“I was one of those statistics until I changed my life,” he says.

Mhlanga said that without good guidance, it is easy to make the wrong decisions when you are young.

Zanele Ngakane, councillor of ward 78, was also in attendance and said that the metro is committed to helping the organisation but the club is still struggling.

“We really need sponsors, especially towards the end of the year because we have an awards ceremony.

We want to reward them with meaningful gifts, like stationery or school uniforms,” explains Vusi.

The club is appealing to the public to assist them with donations and sponsorships.
