New players to join African All Stars FC

Ten players have been selected to join the African All Stars FC.

Tsakane – Hundreds of soccer players from around Kwatsaduza braved the cold to participate in the African All Stars FC trials, hosted at Tsakane Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

They showcased their soccer skills on the pitch in the hope of making the cut.

However, only 10 players were selected for the senior team.

Another 10 were selected for the development team.

Team PRO Tshepo Tlagae says they were scouting for players for the 2017/18 ABC Motsepe league season.

“We had a total of 300 youngsters who were assessed by the coaches and technical staff.

“Only 10 boys were selected for the senior team and 10 other boys for our development team,” he says.

“All the selected players will go through a further assessment stage.

“We are working hard to beef up our previous squad.

“We would like to see all our players playing in the national teams and making it big in the sport.

“Should they be competent, they will go on to train with the senior team for the pre-season, which will begin in July,” he says.

Tshepo says they would like to thank all the players who took part in the trials.

“We encourage those who didn’t make the cut to go back to their teams and work hard.

“Congratulations to those who made it.”

He also thanked the parents for supporting their children during the trials.

“It is through the support of the parents and community that we are able to succeed and have our top players being scouted by national teams,” he says.

Tshepo says two players, Katekane ‘Mnyama’ Mhlanga (23) and Sthembiso ‘Maticket’ Mhlanga (24), were scouted by Polokwane City last season.

“We are proud because this reflects well on our side and shows that we are doing a great job in grooming young talent,” he says.
