Liso speeds ahead

KwaThema - Young Liso Gomba (12) from Payneville Primary will be representing Ekurhuleni in the Provincial Primary School Athletics Championships.

She competes in the 100m and 150m races.

The championships will be held on March 3 and 4 at Pilditch Stadium.

School sports co-ordinator Sophie Mnisi says that Liso started running when she was in Grade Six.

“Last year she represented the school until the district competition before she was knocked out,” she says.

Sophie says that this year Liso competed in the KwaThema Interschool competitions in Brakpan Stadium, where she obtained position one in the 100 and 150 metre races.

“She graduated to the second phase of the competition in the Springs Interschool Competition, where she qualified for the district championships.

“She received position two in the district race held at the John Vorster Stadium in Nigel and qualified for the provincial championships,“ she says.

Sophie says that the school is very happy that she will be representing Ekurhuleni in the championships.
