Two athletes to test at high-performance centres

KwaThema - Two athletes from the KwaThema Disability Sports Academy will be going to the University of Johannesburg High Performance Training Centre this weekend.

The purpose of the visit for Neo Ndlovu and Njabulo Sengwayo is to run some fitness tests on them following their brilliant performances at recent trials.

Ndlovu made the selection after competing at the Central Gauteng Athletics trials in Germiston over the past weekend.

He came out in third position in the 100m, 200m and 400m races while competing against able-bodied athletes.

Sengwayo is heading for the training centre as he qualified for the Nedbank National Championships for the physically disabled last year.

Ndlovu says he is excited about his performance, as he has been training very hard.

“Training has been going well over the past couple of weeks and I can see that I am progressing a lot.

“I am also looking forward to the upcoming nationals, which will be in Port Elizabeth, and am happy that I will be competing there, though I know it won’t be an easy task,” he says.

The chairman of the academy, Aubrey Mathebela, says he is happy with the way these two athletes have performed over the past few months.

“I wish them all the best, as this is their chance to represent the club and KwaThema,” he says.
