Focus team unstoppable

KwaThema – Focus Football Academy showed no mercy to their opponents as they walked away from a 'confirm it's no joke' 17-0 thrashing of Happy Angels.

The encounter for the Mnaka Mining Cup, took place at the KwaThema Sports Complex on Saturday.

From the kick-off Focus dominated on the pitch.

The boys showed a united front, as they managed to score nine goals in the first half.

The goal scorers included Siyabonga Mtetwa netting four and Prince Phoku with three goals; Sibusiso Mokoena and Lesego Ndlovu bagged one apiece.

Happy Angels’ attempts to defend seemed pointless at that stage, as they were overpowered by the opposition.

Focus came back in the second stanza with a plan in hand, team spirit and cheering, as they continued with the motion of attack.

They opened with another goal which prompted Happy Angels to tighten defence.

But the formidable and united Focus team pushed to play in their opponents’ half, keeping the ball away from their own goal posts.

This seemed to work for the young stars, as another seven goals followed one after another; leaving Happy Angels very unhappy.

Scorers in the second half included both Sibusiso Mokoena and Siyabonga Mtetwa with two goals apiece; Sihle Mdluli, Sihle Manyoni, Owami Mtshali and Kulekani Sibeko each got one.

Weak points for Happy Angels included their powerless kicks, poor defence and lack of communication.

While for the dominating Focus, what worked for them was their team spirit, support, good communication and working on opponents’ weaknesses.
