Duduza athlete shines

Duduza – Talent and hard work has propelled local athlete Tumelo Mosito (10) to the cross-country nationals.

The journey of the Grade Four Sizwesethu Primary School learner in the competition kicked off on August 19, at the local stage, where he competed against other athletes from Duduza schools.

It was there that he took first place, at the James Nkosi Primary School.

This gave him the chance to move on to the second round of the competition, the district level, which took place on August 30, at the Boksburg Stadium.

Again Mosito did not disappoint, finishing in first place.

Early this month, when 17 districts competed at the provincial stage, in Glen Vista, Mosito came in fourth.

The boy’s talent and hard work will now see him representing the province in White River, Mpumalanga, on October 1.

“Our young star has proven that dynamite does come in small packages, by achieving so much with his God-given talent to be an athlete,” says his coach, Nhlanhla Khumalo.

“He has not only made himself proud, by making it this far in the competition, but his parents, teachers and the community.

“He has displayed amazing talent, worked hard and has proven his love and passion for running by achieving so many victories.”

The coach adds that an amount of R2 500 is expected to be paid by Mosito’s parents for his accommodation, attire, food and transport for this last lap of the contest.

Therefore, as a school, they are appealing to everyone who can assist him to contact them.

Any donations can be handed over at the school, or those interested in helping Mosito can contact Khumalo on 076 124 6143, or the school principal, Vusi Gule, on 082 555 7070/011 810 5471.
