Karate students of Tsakane stand out

Tsakane – Three karate students from the Tsakane Kyokushinkan Club have received provincial colours.

This comes after the trio, Siyabonga Mahlangu (24), Thulani Nkambule (27) and Prince Maketso (17) represented Gauteng at a national tournament, hosted by the United World Karate Federation of South Africa.

Present to do the hand-over of the gear with the provincial colours was the leadership of the federation.

This included the federations deputy president shihan Peter Thage, general secretary shihan Eddie Thage, CEO of the organisation shihan Shabum Mia, chairman of Gauteng sensei Ishmael Mia and secretary of Gauteng sensei Kagiso Mosemeng.

Local coach sensei Linda Ngubane explains that their three students were selected after having previously won in a tournament that was held in Turffontein a few months ago.

This then awarded the three students the opportunity to represent the province at the nationals tournament hosted in Kibler Park a few weeks back.

“As a club we are very happy and proud of this success as it is not everyone who has these colours.

“We hope that it will encourage our other students,” says sensei Linda Ngubane.
