Ayoba prepare for regionals
KwaThema - The u/13 Ayoba Academy team are the SLFA league champions promoting them to now play in the Ekurhuleni Regional League.
Last Sunday the team had a gymnasium training session at a local gym.
According to technical director Innocent Mayoyo the whole essence of taking the players through a gymnasium session is to expose the players to a different style of training.
He says the players will be playing with u/15s in the regional league so they need to build up their physique as most players are small in body size.
“The problem in South Africa is that we don’t expose our young players to body building training which is also important for a footballer to enhance their physical strength.
“Football isn’t only about technique, but there are other aspects that contribute to grooming quality players and the gymnasium session also promotes team building among the players,” says Mayoyo.
Team coach Tshepo Nkabinde adds the team will continue with the sessions on a weekly basis so that by the beginning of the league the players will be ready to compete.
