Moving up the ladder

Tsakane – The Tsakane Kyokushinkan Club hosted a grading ceremony for young and old karate participants on Saturday.

The activities were conducted at the Faranani Multipurpose Centre to promote members of various clubs from one level to the next.

Tsakane’s Sensei Linda Ngubane explains that the grading ceremony encompassed various teams from Eastern Gauteng falling under the United World Karate Federation of South Africa coming together to promote their members from one stage to another.

“We had about 86 participants from the ages of 6 years old to 58 who are karate lovers being promoted to getting different belts, from white all the way to brown.

“There were also two of our oldest members who were part of the celebrations, William Ndlovu from Tsakane and Lillian Dube from Katlehong, who in addition to obtaining their new belts were presented with certificates for being part of the sport and a being a great example to the younger generation that you are never to old to do something that you love,” adds Ngubane.

He congratulated all the young and old, especially the 23 members of his club who participated in the day’s event and who managed to get to the next level in their karate path.
