Victory for Junior Spinners

KwaThema – Junior Spinners took on Young Masters in an u/15 Springs Local Football Association (SLFA) match over the weekend.

The thriller game was played at the KwaThema Sports Complex on Saturday.

As the whistle blew, it was hard to tell which side would come away with the points in hand, but Spinners made sure that they stood out a few minutes into the game, with Njabulo Sibanyoni (14) scoring the opening goal 15 minutes into the first half.

This first goal seemed to change things around, as one could see the confidence build up among the Spinners players as they pushed to attack more in hopes of extending their lead.

Five minutes later, the tactical pass of Spinners’ Mduduzi Nxuma (12) saw him score the second goal of the day.

Masters rebooted and got their act together soon after seeing that the situation was getting unpredictable as this became a vital moment for them to bag some goals.

The shift in mindset became evident in the 25th minute of the first stanza as Bongani Nxokweni (14) of Masters put his name on the scoresheet.

In the second half Spinners appeared more at ease as their focus remained on keeping out any possible scoring opportunities by their opponents which would lead them to equalise.

Masters also changed their strategy to attack more, so that they could at least walk away with a draw, but Spinners did not allow for any of that, leaving the final score of the game at 2-1.

Masters coach John Mpambani said he believes the team performed well and that they will win in their future games.

“Loss of focus cost us the game, but we will recover,” he said.

Spinners coach Bernett Podile shared how proud he was of the boys’ win.

“We are happy with the performance of the boys as everything has been going well for us and we are looking forward to collecting more points in our upcoming games,” he said.
