After successfully competing in the Cradock Easter Tournament with his team, the 24-year-old Ace Auto Ayoba player was presented with an award for the Player of the Tournament.
This is a huge achievement as Maseko was selected out of players from 24 teams, from various provinces.
“Ace Auto Ayoba participated in Cradock in the Eastern Cape and this tournament meant a lot to us especially towards our last eight games of the SAB League.
“It has also helped us in team building, team bonding, team development and team spirit.
“Out of 24 teams, in the three days we played eight matches and only missed out on a chance to proceed after losing our semi-final game on penalties,” says technical director of Ace Auto Ayoba, Innocent Mayoyo.
He adds that they are very proud of the team and of their left back player and vice captain, Ronnie Maseko, who has been with the team for six years.
“This shows that our boys can fit into any environment and Maseko winning this award is a great example to all our local boys that you never know who is watching you when you play and that might be the day you get your big break, hence you must always do your best and be serious about what you do.
“Maseko really did well as he stood out and was selected by strangers, not us, so it shows that he is finally being rewarded for his hard work, team spirit, discipline and determination,” shares Mayoyo.
Maseko says he is very happy with his accomplishment as the tournament was fun but tough as the style of football was different from theirs.
“Most of the guys we were competing against were also tall, so as a short player I really had to push myself and am glad that my hard work has paid off.
“Thanks you to my teammates and coaches as this wouldn’t have happened without them,” he says.
Ace Auto Ayoba management additionally thanks the KwaThema Pick n Pay for making this tournament possible for them, and Springs Home Sweepers, saying through this, they have helped two local teams for the benefit of their community.
