Local boxers doing well

KwaThema – Last Saturday three of GeoMaroon’s boxers qualified to fight professionally after passing the Boxing South Africa (BSA) test tournament in Westdene, Johannesburg.

Simangele Hadebe, Nkululeko Seleke and Themba Mazibuko will now fight with professional boxers from around the country.

Hadebe, the first female boxer from GeoMaroon to make it to professional level, was also crowned the boxer of the test tournament.

Coach Themba Zulu said he is over the moon with the results of the boxers.

“It gives me joy that three of my boxers are now professional boxers and, moreover, having the first female boxer from my club now fighting professionally.

“This indicates that we are doing something right and their commitment is paying off,” said the happy coach.

On Saturday three boxers from the club will be fighting in Eldorado Park in non-title fights.

Hadebe exchanged punches in the junior fly division, Vusi Bilankulu in the junior welterweight division and Clever Mundingi in the junior fly division.

Zulu adds that it is a big deal to have four boxers fighting on one weekend.

“They must go and represent KwaThema and show the community that we are really committed to the sport of boxing,” he said.
