Sesonke Diski Tournament in Duduza

Duduza - Duduza United was crowned Sesonke Diski Tournament winner last Saturday after beating Seven Stars 7-0 in the finals.

The Sesonke Diski Tournament that took place at Rocky Park in Duduza was organised by Lucky Mgciwa, a soccer lover who saw the need to engage young boys in soccer at the weekend.

He says a lot of young people get involved in substance abuse due to being idle during weekends.

“Soccer is a favourite sport in the community and many young boys have the skills and passion for it but don’t have a platform to showcase their talent.

“That’s also the reason why I felt the need to host this one-day tournament,” he says.

Five teams from around Duduza took part in the tournament.

In the semi-final game Junior Stars thrashed Golden Shooters 2-0 after an intense game.

The u/17 lads showed exceptional soccer skills as they tried to score goals for their teams.

In the first half both sides failed to score any goals.

Going into the second half, Junior Stars players were more than adamant to get goals in and win the match.

Junior Stars’ Skumbuzo Manana got the first goal, followed by Sphiwe Hlalele, ending the match with a win for them.
