New kit donated to cricket club

Boksburg – The Duduza Cricket Club (DCC) was spoilt with dinner last Saturday when Boksburg businessman Manish Gupta donated full kits for the junior and senior players of the club.

Gupta who says his love for the sport prompted him to make this generous donation.

He explains that his relation with DCC came about when he met head coach Tshepo Mofokeng a few years ago.

“Mofokeng and I built a relationship and from there I got to know the struggles the club was experiencing, which propelled me to donate what I can,” says Gupta.

Gupta also makes sure that the club has transportation for away games, meals for the players and a training kit.

Mofokeng says his overwhelmed that this sponsorship finally came through after four years of knocking on doors and convincing businesses to invest in local cricket.

“DCC has never had a kit up until now. This is a huge deal for us as we will now look like a real team when on the pitch,” says the coach.

He explains the new kit will also serve as motivation to the players, who have never had a kit since joining the club.

“Some players don’t even have training gear and come to practice wearing jeans and school shoes, which hindered their performance.

“I know this kit will bring back the spirit of the players and we will thrive as one,” says Mofokeng.

Gupta adds that he will donate again next year, but only if the players take care of the kit and show commitment to the game.

“Their efforts should match my efforts,” he says.
