SAB League match to be replayed

KwaThema – Due to heavy rain and strong wind, the SAB League match played at the KwaThema Stadium against Ace Auto Ayoba and Kargo Alberton had to be stopped at half time.

The match played on Sunday afternoon had started on a good note, with both sides fighting hard to remain undefeated.

The home team seemed to be stronger in their attack.

However, both teams worked hard to ensure they tighten their defence, which proved successful as no side was able to bag a goal.

About 10 minutes before the end of the first half, heavy rain and wind began and continued getting stronger until the whistle blew at the halfway mark of the game.

Supporters remained in their seats, hoping for the rain to stop and the match to go on, but this was not to be as officials unanimously decided to cancel the game due to concern for the safety of the players and the ground being in bad condition.

Technical director of Ace Auto Ayoba, Innocent Mayoyo, says that there will have to be a replay of the game and that the league officials will be the ones to decide on a new date for the match replay.

He adds that the cancellation of the game by officials was due to the ground being in an unsuitable condition, concern for the safety of the players. Innocent also states that fair play had to prevail.
