Athletic club promotes healthy living

KwaThema - The KwaThema Striders Athletic Club is encouraging members of the community to join the club.

Mzimkhulu Ngubeni, acting deputy chairperson, says a healthy lifestyle should be taught and encouraged in the community.

“The year has just begun and people made resolutions to change their unhealthy lifestyles.

“So we want those people to join the club so they are motivated and committed to exercise,” he says.

The club will be introducing new fitness programmes to accommodate beginners.

“We have two coaches, who train for long and short distance.

“They will be making sure that new members are properly trained for the various marathon races in which they participate,” says Ngubeni.

The club participates in well known races across South Africa and has developed strong athletes in the community.

“We want to groom more young athletes, so we encourage young people to join the club,” says Ngubeni.
