Aerobics to keep fit

Tsakane - Senior citizens are back to keeping their bodies fit through aerobics at the Faranani Multi Purpose Centre.

The senior citizens are instructed by Sibusiso Gumbi who has been teaching them since 2014.

Gumbi says he enjoys giving lessons to the elderly because they are always pushing themselves and make a point not to miss a session.

“I’m proud of them because they come to every session and are eager to try new routines,” says Gumbi.

He encourages all senior citizens of the community to come and join the class as it is essential that the body keeps active all the time.

“Following an exercise routine helps with blood circulation, mental health and physical strength; especially as they are more prone to get diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure.

“I also encourage them to eat healthy at home as this also plays a major role in their physical body.” he says.

Elizabeth Motloung, member of the class, says these aerobic classes really work to keep the mind and body healthy.

“Many of my mates have seen a difference in their health since starting the class and I wish more people can come and join us,” says Motloung.

Classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am till noon.

Senior citizens of the community are welcome to be part of the class.
