Local boys participate in SA School Games

KwaThema - Two youngsters from the KwaThema Disability Sports Academy will represent Gauteng in the South African School Games in Tswane.

Bongani Mgidi (16) and Thando Nhlapho (18) are participating in cerebral palsy soccer after they were selected in the Central Gauteng for the Disabled trials held in October.

Chairman of the academy, Aubrey Mathebela, says the teens leave on December 8 and come back after December 16 when the games end.

“Our boys were selected from the trials in October and we are very proud of them.

“I will be going with them as convener of the Gauteng team. I am very happy for the boys, impressed with their performance and hope they will do well and enjoy the experience,” he says.

Mgidi says he is feeling good about this accomplishment and can’t wait to start participating in the games because he has been excited since his sterling performance and selection in the trials.

“I aim to score many goals so I can put our province and myself on the top and from there, hopefully, I can go and play at international level.

“Thank you to my coach and family for all their love and support,” he says.
