Springs Home Sweepers FC draw 1-1 against Tornado Lions FC

KwaThema – The all girl Springs Home Sweepers FC team drew 1-1 against the all boy Tornado Lions FC team in a match that was played at the KwaThema Sports Complex on Saturday.

At the start of the game the Tornado Lions seemed to have underestimated the girl side and were a bit too relaxed.

As a result Springs Home Sweepers’ Banele Maseko (12) netted the opening goal five minutes into the first half.

From that moment, the game started to pick up pace as Tornado Lions started to defend more.

By the end of the first half the girl team was still in the lead with 1-0.

When Tornado Lions came back into the second half, they looked more composed and determined to beat their opponents.

Ten minutes into the second half, Opal Vilakazi (12), finally managed to score the equalising goal.

Coach Josepho Mkhonza of the Springs Home Sweepers FC says he is very proud of the way his team played as they are the only girls team in the Springs Local Football Association League.

He adds that through these games, they are preparing to compete in the u/15 regional league next year.

Tornado Lions FC’s coach Sipho Maseko says he is also pleased with the boys and how they played.
