Galloping to the win

The horses and jockeys are ready, and the charities hoping for a win in Saturday’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile to be run at Turffontein Racecourse.

Sixteen charities, represented by 16 celebrities and horses, will all be hoping that their horse will cross the finish line first, securing the winning charity a purse of R150 000 in the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile .

The second horse home takes away R100 000 with R80 000 for third place, R70 000 for fourth and R50 000 for the other 12 charities.

This year the Addie and actress Carmel Fisher will be shouting for Halve the Deficit in a bid encourage him to take the grand prize for the National Horse Trust.

Hopefully, since the National Horse Trust looks after abused and neglected ex-race horses in their old age, Halve the Deficit will see the advantage of supporting his equine brothers and sisters by putting in that extra effort to make the Addie and our charity the victors of the day.

However, two other charities will also get some of our support as we hope that a charity from our neck of the woods will take home a chunk of the purse.

Star Schools in Springs will be represented by Whiteline Fever, while KwaThema’s Khangezile Primary After Care Centre will be hoping to see M L Jet cross the finish first.
