Mayweather to fight for WBA title

KwaThema - Local boxer Mxolisi ‘Mayweather’ Nobewu from the Geo-Maroon Boxing Club will be fighting for the World Boxing Association (WBA) title on Friday in Limpopo.

 

’Nobewu who holds the International Boxing Federation (IBF) title says he is ready for the upcoming fight against Limpopo’s Cliatus Mbele and is confident that he will take the title.

“Ive been preparing and training intensely for the last couple of months and I am very confident that my time put in on training will pay off,” says Nobewu.

Mayweather currently weighs 53.5kg and is fighting in the bantam division.

Themba Zulu, his trainer and manager explains that Mayweather is experienced and fit enough to face Mbele in the ring.

“Mayweather was last in the ring in March, since then we have been training for this fight, I’m confident that he will deliver and knock out his opponent,” says Zulu.

He adds that the fight will be broadcast live at 9.30pm on SABC 2, and urges the Kwatsaduza community to watch their very own Mayweather represent them.

Mayweather’s next fight will be on November 28 against Gideon Buthelezi.
