Duduza Tennis Club invites community

Duduza – The Duduza Tennis Club is opening its doors to all community members who are interested in taking up tennis.

Ntokozo Dhlamini (23) and Sbusiso Myeli (22), the club’s founders, say they want the youth of Duduza and other community members to come and engage in the sport.

According to Dhlamini it only made sense to revive the sport of tennis as there were existing facilities available in the community. The tennis courts were previously vandalized.

“The tennis courts have now been revamped so we can use them to play the sport and therefore we encourage the youth to come and play tennis,” says Dhlamini.

The Duduza Tennis Club currently has 15 members.

Tennis student Mbali Mdakane (21), says she has always loved the sport from a young age but couldn’t play tennis because there were no tennis clubs and it was not offered as a sport in local schools.

“I’m very pleased that we have our very own tennis club in Duduza, so many young tennis lovers like me come and take part in the sport from a young age,” says Mdakane.

Interested players can meet at the club Monday to Friday from 4pm till 5pm at the Duduza Gymnasium and on Saturday and Sundays from 9am to 10am.
