Local athletes to compete in the Cross Country in August.

Kwatsaduza - More than 30 athletes from the Kwatsaduza Athletics Club took part in the seventh Cross Country League event held in Thokoza Park on Saturday, July 18.

Athletes between the ages of six and 45 participated in the recent cross country event.

Sparks Moagi, Kwatsaduza Athletics Club chairman, says that the future of the young athletes of Kwatsaduza is looking bright and that club members continue to fly the Kwatsaduza flag high with more than 10 runners achieving top three positions in each category.

After the club’s great performance, runners are preparing to a go on a three-day camp in Vosloorus to prepare for the next cross country league event in Boksburg on August 15.

“The cross country event in Boksburg will be in preparation for the South African Championships to be held in Mpumalanga in September,” explained Moagi.

A proud Moagi added that he is confident that if the Kwatsaduza runners continue to train hard they will perform well enough to be selected to present Gauteng at the national championship.
