Soccer academy takes Sibusiso

KwaThema Extension Three resident Sibusiso Mbonani (15) has been selected to join a prestigious soccer academy.

Talent scouts from the Augusto Palacios Apprentice Academy (Orlando Pirates) recently visited a soccer field in KwaThema and watched Sibusiso and other young players in action.

They were very impressed with Sibusiso and offered him a spot at the academy, which develops young soccer players.

Many players from the academy have gone on to play soccer professionally.

Sibusiso took a liking to soccer at a young age and started playing for his school.

He also played for a club in KwaThema about three years ago.

Last year, the midfielder won the Most Promising Player cup at his school.

Selcourt resident Marilyn Power has known Sibusiso since he was born and has always supported him.

“Since he started playing, I have supported him fully and bought him soccer boots, socks and all the rest,” says Marilyn.

She feels his love for football will give him some direction in life and hopefully keep him on the right track.

Sibusiso says this opportunity will enable him to play the game he loves so much.

“Unfortunately, to be part of this, I need to pay several fees and buy a kit,” he says.

Not having the funds necessary for registration, a football kit, monthly fees and league fees, he asked Marilyn to assist.

Marilyn claims Sibusiso’s mother is unemployed and his father only has a temporary job, and they are therefore unable to assist him.

If anyone would like to help Sibusiso, can contact Marilyn on 083 452 5419.
