Mambas win street soccer tournament

KwaThema- The Masakane One Day Tournament took place at Khumbuza on Sunday.

Israel Mabe (47), who is the founder of Issy United Football Club, organised the street soccer tournament.

The one-day tournament was aimed at developing young soccer players and keeping youngsters away from substance abuse and crime.

Teams from around KwaThema participated in the tournament.

The Mambas were the tournament champions with a 4-1 win against Extension 8.

Mabe said the winning team walked away with a R1 000 cash prize and medals.

From their first game against Magents, it was evident Mambas wanted the title.

Mambas registered two goals minutes into the first half, forcing Magents to up their game.

Magents managed to get a goal moments before the first half ended.

In the second half, Magents came in with a different strategy and scored an equalizer.

The momentum of the game picked up and Mambas were desperately seeking more goals.

The Mambas scored their final goal of the match and beat Magents 3-2.
