Mayweather to defend his title

Boxing fans will know on March 1 if the world championship title remains in Gauteng.

Mxolisi ‘Mayweather’ Nombewu from Geo Maroon Boxing Club will be defending his International bantam-weight championship title in East London.

To ensure that he keeps his gold belt, Mayweather has started to train to ensure that he is ready for the challenge ahead.

He was crowned the new International bantam-weight champion on August 30.

Mayweather, the world champion, won the fight against Siphosethu Mvula at East London’s Orient Theatre where he will be facing Mfusi Maxhayi to defend the title.

He said he is confident that he will come back with the championship belt.

“No one will take my belt away from me, I will defend my title and make residents of Gauteng proud,” Mayweather said.

Mayweather’s coach, Themba Zulu, said he is also confident that Mayweather will defend his title.

“I have no doubt that he will win the fight and remain the International bantam-weight champion,” said Zulu.
