Abandoned soccer fields

Aspiring soccer stars have limited grounds to play on.

A number of soccer grounds have been abandoned by the municipality in Kwatsaduza since last year.

According to Ward Councillor George Vilakazi the soccer ground at Tornado, Morapedi street has been abandoned by the department of parks and recreation because they claim they no longer have a grater machine for the grounds.

Vilakazi says these informal grounds are very helpful for the children to interact in sport activity.

He adds the ground next to Theo Twala Primary School and Reedville grounds are also affected by the same neglect from the municipality.

Resident from Tornado, Moses Mthethwa says he saw municipal workers cutting grass around the field on Tuesday.

Mthethwa says he finds it hard to understand why would they not cut the soccer field in Tornado.

Mthethwa says the community must do something about the soccer fields because a lot of times the sport complex has too many matches after each other.
