Luyanda, champion in the making

Luyanda 'Pholabear' says he sees himself as the next SA champion.

From the Geo Maroon Boxing Club in KwaThema, Luyanda Pholabear Jako is confident that this year he will be crowned the SA boxing champion.

Of the three fights that he fought last year, Pholabear returned with two victories and one loss.

“The two fights that I won were played at Emperors Palace,” said Pholabear.

Regardless of the postponement of one of his fights that was supposed to take place in November last year, he will continue to train hard until he gets a date for his provincial fight.

He is expecting to fight his provincial fight in March this year.

Pholabear says one thing he has learnt from fights last year is not to lose focus while in the ring. He says he will use this in all his upcoming fights.

“The win starts with paying attention to the opponent and fighting to win,” believes Pholabear.

He then appeals to sponsors to come forward and support township boxing clubs to produce the best boxers of the future.
