KwaThema girls cricket on the rise

The KwaThema Cricket Club introduced their girls team.

The team players are between the ages of 12 and 17 years.

Club chairman Peter Vonya said the club saw the need to establish a girls cricket team following the dedication and eagerness showed by the young girls.

He said the team participated in the ladies cricket league in which seven other teams also took part.

“I am proud that our girls did not disappoint and played to their best ability” said Vonya.

He adds that the cricket team was in third position by the end of the season.

He then appealed to other young girls to join the team.

The team’s coach Itumeleng ‘Troy’ Ntsonane said he is impressed with the team’s performance.

“My team this year is aiming to take position one by the end of the season,” said Ntsonane.

The team is ready for the start of the 2015 season this weekend. Their training sessions are Mondays to Thursdays at 9am.
