New boxing club in Tsakane

The Bigger Walker Boxing Club is a new club in Tsakane.

The club has been in existence for one month.

Club founder, Charles Mtshali, says he started the club with the aim of producing professional boxers from the township.

The club consists of young boxers between the ages of eight and 22.

He says his love for boxing started when he was still at school in 1976.

Mtshali’s first boxing trainer was Gideon Tshabala, a man who, he says, believed in his boxing talent and always encouraged him to follow his dream.

One can say that fighting is a form of sport that runs in Mtshali’s family as his uncle is also one of the best known boxers and a founder of Geo Maroon Boxing Club in KwaThema.

He says one of his dreams is to see the young boxers that he is training, fighting on a professional level one day.

“To me achievement is to see the best results of the hard work that I am doing today being recognised by the nation,” said Mtshali.

He appeals to the community of Kwatsaduza for support.

He says parents should let their children choose the sport that they want to be involved in and not decide for them.

“Sport is one of the gateways that must be used to fight against the use of drugs and crime in the township,” believes Mtshali.

His boxers are expected to start fighting in different competitions soon.
